Car audio and the 12-volt industry that was predicted to
crash is here. I use to read articles about the time frame of the crash,
about 10 years ago, and it seems they were right. With the cars of
the future fully equipped with all the electronic toys you can dream of
already installed, the need to upgrade a brand new car has diminished
along with the retail car audio /alarm industry. This in turn, leaves many
without a local or even reputable place to turn to. The decline in salary for the inexperienced installers has
chased off most of the best installers this world may ever see, creating a
flood of inexperienced installers costing you more time and money.
The void.... There used to be a time where radios did not even come in a new car, many car audio shops were built on that limited option. So what about old cars that need repairs or replacement parts you may say. Due to the amount of older model cars, and counting, most shops don’t have every part on hand for every car. Most of the time, they end up ordering the parts online and don’t get them until the following week! Also, there is a chance they could be ordering the wrong part! Car companies make many different types of trim and package combos, so ordering the right parts takes detail oriented, forward thinking and knowledgeable individuals who take the time to get it right. An uphill battle for the industry, has just begun. Complexity of installations has risen, while the talent and expertise has fallen. AMAZON is pumping out tons of equipment online leaving the consumer with the task of a DIY (do it yourself) job. All this leaves us to do is find unconventional ways to seek talented installers to get it done.
All hope is not lost, there are well experienced car and marine audio system design fabricators and electronics installers. You'll see many of them on tv shows but there are the local modest ones as well. Here is a contact with over 24 years of experience in the industry that serves the Palm Beach and local counties: http://ivanthegreat101.wix.com/voltz Check the website, contact him and see for yourself.
